Return to Work Phases

All companies are in different phases of re-opening. If you are currently in a work-at-home phase with intentions of opening your office – this article is for you.

Transmission rates of COVID-19 can run rampant without the correct precautions in place. Creating a re-opening plan can help minimize transmission rates to keep your employees, and customers, safe.

Here are some things to consider about creating a new setup and safer work space as you reopen:

1. Hours of operations. Consider the number of employees that need to be in the office at one time. Maybe a tiered set of ours could work for your business operations. For example, have a morning and night shift comprised of people who need to be in the office together to complete tasks. An assembly line operation, may not need production and assembly teams in the facility at the same time.
2. Change the flow of traffic. If you have aisles, or floors, to the office, it may be wise to create directional signs. An elevator could be designated for people traveling up – and another elevator for those coming down (similar to escalators!). Aisleways can be one-way to minimize people walking past one another. Think about how your office is setup and how simple changes can have major impacts on social distancing.
3. Payment methods. Rather than exchanging cash or passing credit cards back and forth, try contactless payment options. Reducing the exchanging of money/credit cards can drastically decrease the amount of germs between people.
4. Hand Sanitizing Stations. You know I can’t sanitizing stations throughout the entire building and specifically at high traffic areas. Entrance/exit and elevators can be a great place to begin with placing sanitizing stations. People are constantly passing by and touching items in these areas.
