Transforming San Jose City Hall for SJ26
Bringing the SJ26 Celebration to Life at an Iconic Civic Landmark
When San Jose prepared to welcome thousands of visitors for the SJ26 Big Game celebrations, the city needed its most recognizable landmark to reflect the excitement happening downtown. BLR Visual Communications partnered with city leaders to install large-format environmental graphics that transformed San Jose City Hall into a bold visual centerpiece for the festivities.
Working alongside the City of San Jose and project partners, BLR produced and installed oversized graphics across the City Hall rotunda and tower, creating an immersive branded experience visible throughout the downtown event district. The installation energized the space while celebrating San Jose’s role as host for one of the region’s biggest community events.
As the project entered its second phase, San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan joined the installation team to help apply the first panel during the kickoff installation—a memorable moment that highlighted the collaborative spirit behind the project.
The finished installation transformed City Hall into more than just a government building. It became a backdrop for concerts, community celebrations, and thousands of photographs throughout the weekend, helping reinforce San Jose’s identity while creating an unforgettable experience for residents and visitors alike.

A Landmark Designed to Bring the Community Together
Large-scale environmental graphics require more than simply producing oversized prints. Every installation must account for visibility, architectural features, durability, installation logistics, and the experience visitors will have as they move through the space.
For the SJ26 celebration, BLR coordinated closely with city staff and project partners to ensure every graphic aligned with the event branding while complementing the unique architecture of San Jose City Hall. The result was a seamless installation that transformed a familiar civic landmark into an engaging destination throughout the celebration.
